What is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)?
CBT is a talking therapy which looks at the beliefs, thoughts, emotions and triggers for the emotional responses and helps you to manage these responses in the future.
What is Hypnotherapy?
There is a lot of misunderstanding about what hypnotherapy actually involves. Stage Hypnotists are trained to very quickly put selected people into a trance state where they may carry out instructions without question. That’s not what I do!
Hypnotherapy is, in my experience, a bit like have a facial or a massage where you are so relaxed you drift off – not into sleep – but just into a quiet state of deep relaxation. While you are in such a state of relaxation I will be speaking slowly and quietly to you making suggestions about the issues we are dealing with, or I may be asking you questions about what you are thinking about or experiencing. It’s not scary but it does mean that the chatter in your mind is reduced so that we can focus on the issues you need to focus on.
What is psychoeducation?
Psychoeducation is the process by which you learn how your beliefs, emotions and behaviours may have started in your childhood and how the experiences you have had since then may have impacted on this. The therapy will include homework including diarising events, the associated emotions and the consequent behaviours.
What is coaching?
Coaching is a technique where you will identify goals and the objectives you need to achieve to meet the goals. The objectives may include training in assertiveness, public speaking or managing meetings through hypnotic visualisation or practising techniques in a safe environment with me.
What is counselling?
Counselling is a talking therapy that helps you to deal with the beliefs you have which are causing emotional distress and discomforting behaviour. I use a range of counselling techniques with supportive hypnotherapy.
