What Stress is (and what is is not)

Being stressed makes you feel uncomfortable but not every uncomfortable emotion, feeling or thought is stress. So being confused about whether you are feeling stress can be stressful in itself.

People use the stress generically when they might mean worry, anxiety, or fear about being able to cope with the challenges we face in our life including at work and at home. Dealing with difficult emotions becomes a little easier if we can understand them. Being stressed can provoke fear, anxiety and worry but each of these emotions is a different reaction to the stressor.
